KFC Star Search Camp 2021 takes on road format

The KFC Star Search basketball camp is set to tip off on Monday August 9, 2021 in Montego Bay Jamaica. After a break last year because of the COVID pandemic, the KFC star search camp will resume with a different format which is better suited to conform to the prescribed protocol stipulated by ODPEM.

The camp this year will be non-residential in nature with a road series spanning the western, central and southern conferences as per dates below; A maximum of 60 campers will be invited at each location.

  • Montego Bay Boys Club – August 9-10
  • Knox College – August 11-12
  • Kingston (Stadium Courts) – August 13-14

Talented male players in the Under 19, 17 and 15 categories from each conference will be invited to participate and select girls in the Under 15 section will also participate in the series. Camp administrators and coaches will interface with approximately 180 young campers during the week long activities where both senior and regional coaches will have an opportunity to assess and guide the youthful talent. A new feature of the camp is the use of the Elite 1 recruiting and evaluation platform which has assisted in the development of over 500 NCAA and professional athletes. The platform will be used to assess players live and on video, verify statistics and profile information, and provide written feedback which allows for comparison with peers globally.

Once again the JaBA star search partner KFC has committed to supporting the camp both monetarily and by way of meals for campers and staff.  Sports Development Foundation (SDF) also continues to contribute to development programmes of this nature and the Jamaica Basketball Association (JaBA) is indeed thankful as we seek to provide a platform for sport and youth development.

The KFC Star Search camp continues to be the premier platform that helps to identify young players for scholarship opportunities and showcase young players for potential national youth team representation.
