The 2026 GKONE Howard McCatty Community Basketball League officially opened its doors on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Utech Auditorium, launching a season bigger and more exciting than ever before.

With a renewed focus on community engagement and digital integration, the league has welcomed 23 teams representing the Corporate Area, St. Catherine, and surrounding parishes. The event marked a significant milestone in the competition’s third season of sponsorship by GKONE.

A Season of New Energy and Historic Returns

The 2026 lineup is defined by a mix of fresh talent and the triumphant return of basketball giants.

New Entrants: Four new clubs have joined the fray, bringing fresh rivalry to their respective regions:

Perhaps the most buzzed-about development is the return of Arnett Gardens Rockers, the league’s most decorated club, after a multi-year absence. They join other returning powerhouses Swift Sons and Papine Kings, ensuring that the competition will be fierce from the opening buzzer.

The opening night festivities concluded with an energetic open rally. In a preview of what’s to come, Grants Pen Giants, the 2025 season finalists emerged as the rally winners, signaling their intent to defend their title.

Record Incentives and Digital Innovation

GKONE, now in its third year of sponsoring the competition, is raising the bar. Rickardo Ebanks, Chief Digital Officer of GK ONE, announced a major overhaul of the league’s incentive structure and fan engagement strategies.

“We are not just sponsoring a league; we are building a digital ecosystem for Jamaican basketball,” said Ebanks. “Our goal is to bring these incredible community teams to a wider audience through our digital platforms.”
