In the search for reinforcements under the boards, defending champion Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden (ZZ Leiden) inked 32-year old Samardo Samuels. Jamaican Samuels played three years in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers, before a series of clubs in the top of Europe followed.
Samuels played most recently at Maccabi Hod Hasharon in a very tough Israeli League where in 17 games he averaged impressive 16.2ppg, 7.8rpg, 2.0apg and 1.2bpg last season. It was a very successful year in his career as he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Israeli National League Honorable Mention.
Samuels attended University of Louisville until 2010 and it will be his twelfth season in pro basketball.
