Jamaica squads advance to FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup Quarterfinals

Jamaica’s men and women’s teams have advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2024 FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup after strong performances in Fridayโ€™s preliminary round in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The men’s team, after advancing through Thursdayโ€™s qualifiers, faced Canada and Argentina in pool play on Friday. They narrowly lost 14-19 to Canada but bounced back with a 21-14 win over Argentina, securing their spot in the quarterfinals. Jabulani Newby scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds against Argentina. They will face the USA on Sunday at 2:20 pm Jamaica time.

The women’s team, who did not need to play in qualifying, started with a 14-9 win over Mexico but later lost 15-20 to Canada. They advanced to the final eight as the second team in Pool B. Tiffany Reynolds stood out against Canada with nine points and 11 rebounds despite the loss.
